An extremely busy adjudicator, Colin has assessed more than 2,500 productions at over 250 festivals over the past 30 years. His numerous engagements have ranged throughout the British Isles - and beyond. He has adjudicated the British Final and National Finals in England, Scotland, Wales, Ulster and Ireland, the All-Winners Festival, and festivals in Europe.
Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in the Art of Theatre Criticism, he was Head of English and Drama in a large Surrey secondary school. For many years he was theatre critic for a West London newspaper and has served on the Barclay's Award Panel assessing professional productions nationwide.
He was Chairman of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators (2011-2014) and is also a Member of the Scottish Association of Speech and Drama Adjudicators.
Along with his friend and colleague Rex Walford he has co-written 'The One-Act Play Companion', published by A & C Black. He has also edited the book 'On Being a Drama Adjudicator'.
He is one of the three judges on the panel selecting the winners of the Annual National Drama Festivals Association New Playwriting Competition. In addition he is on the training team for a national telephone help-line.
He is delighted to be back at Hertford for the sixth time to adjudicate the 2016 Hertford Theatre Week.
